FFL for bullets (not live ammo)?

Sorry if this is already covered. I took a quick look at the stickies and didn't see anything.

I just tried to order some Hornady bullets from Buds Gun Shop. They told me that since july 1, even bullets have to ship to an FFL. Is that just Buds policy or did CA pass a another freakin' law that all vendors have to follow?

Just to be clear, I was ordering bullets, not live ammo.
Hornady 9mm 125gr HAP bullets to be exact.
Pleasanton CA, Citori 725 Trap Max, Benelli M2, SW 686, CZ 75, SP01, and others.

Bullets (just the projectile) do not require sale through an FFL in CA. Complete ammunition cartridges do. Must be a Bud's policy.

Buds is anti California, don't waste your time there.

        Thats just Buds.
I received a order of bullets last saturday.
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.
I really miss the good old Pomona Gun Shows.

I only ordered from Buds because they had the lowest price. The guy on the phone said "any ammo making component including powder and primers has to go to an FFL" . So what? Does that include wads for shotshell? Guess my business goes elsewhere. They must be super "gun shy" about lawsuits. IDK.

Try powder valley. They understand the rules.

Buds is not the Best Buy if you shop, when Midway has sales just buy bulk only way to buy these days.

Had the same problem a few years ago.

                  Find a different vendor.

Blue Collar Reloading, BCR, the best place to get your reloading components. We carry Lapua, Berger, Nosler, Sierra, Hornady, and much more. Just check us out.

Have experienced nothing but great service from BCR on Hornady bullets.
Quick to ship to CA and good inventory.

Hap's ARE good, but check out rocky mountain reloading nukes. They're often cheaper and after shooting 500 of them, I think they're slightly better quality. Its a surprisingly good bullet.

... and they ship to CA with no fuss. Theres no component bans. Primers, cases, powder, bullets and tools all ship to your house.

Give RMR Bullets a try. I don't see anything on their site that says they don't ship to California, and their bullets are good.

Just tried to order some Sierra Matchkings from Locked & Loaded (lockedloaded.com) in Springfield Illinois. They also refused to ship directly. Scratch that vendor off the list too.
