What to do with 5.56 blanks

My brother texted me a few days ago asking what he can do with what looks to be around 1k rounds of 5.56 blanks he found in his garage. My father left them behind when he moved outta state earlier in the year.

i told him to hang on to it till i find out some info on what to do, i suggested that maybe a reloader might be able salvage the powder and reuse it, sell it to a range or another person, etc.

I moved away a few years ago so im not super read up on the new CA laws regarding selling of ammo and what not. any help is appreciated and he lives in SD if it helps.

    thanks for the help

No good to reloaders. The cases are not the same.

Those cases will have a crimped neck and the powders used for ball ammo is more then likely different from what loaded in those cases. Take them to a range and mag dump them and ask the person next to you how to get on target lol

Sell them. People with those can cannons use them. Actually get pretty good money for them.

You can convert them to 300 blk/whisper. You're cutting away the F'd up star crimp portion.

Launch cans or golf balls with an appropriate launching adapter.

Golf ball launcher uses blanks too

Blanks are pretty pricy and no background check needed if I read the law correctly

Or build one hell of a ramset nail gun
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT
                      (thanks to Jeff Cooper)

Have you seen the price of soda and golf balls lately? 1000 sodas or golf balls!?!? It would seriously be cheaper to just throw away the blanks and buy a case of regular ammo!
