Soft points that have sloppy tips...

    Hey guys,
I ordered a bunch of 150g 30cal flat back soft points for a good price but the tips are a little sloppy looking. Is it worth spinning them in a drill to make the lead sharper? At 100 yards probably won't make a difference but in case someone here says that will stop them from making U-turns and hitting me in the butt.

If these are for plinking.....shoot em.

The base of the bullet is more important for stearing the bullet than the tip.

    Just my opinion.

I'm sure you're right. I'll shootem if I gottem. They should shoot better out of the Krag and I seem to be able to shoot .308 out of my enfield fine so the flat base should shoot better.

if those are the rifles you will use these in, they will be fine and will not notice an difference that could not be user error.

they will probably get deformed feeding out of a magazine anyway

if they are loaded you can kind of shave any mushes with a little pencil sharpener

I was a kid when I seen that movie, And even I knew he was doing more damage to the bullets then he was "fixing" But again military snipers only need a 70% hit ratio and 1 moa accuracy to pass.

I'll spin 10 and see how it shoots compared to non spun ones. Probably no difference at 100 yards.

However, they aren’t going to be selecting those 70% hit ratio dudes to go out on missions or patrols.

I was a tanker. Loaders had to load a round in 5-7 seconds to be used as a loader on a crew. If there was 4 openings and 8 loaders attempting to be on a crew. The fastest were selected, if didn’t matter if anyone outranked another or had longer TIG or TIS. The other 4 became back ups and drivers.
