    IMR 700X powder question

I am still pretty new to reloading just got my press set up and went out look for powder and other things i need. the only powders i found in stock locally was some IMR 700X 14oz bottles for 11.99 and Accurate No. 2 1lb for 18 bucks.

None of my friends that reload have ever used these powders they all use unique and winchester to reload they they could not give any info so i am just wondering if they is a good powder for 44magnum and 45acp those are going to be the calibers i reload for. i plan on reloading using cast bullets as well if it makes a difference in powder selection.

The IMR 700X you can use for 45 ACP. Check out the loading data at www.hodgdon.com

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    155 GR. CAST LSWC IMR 700-X .5.4 grains - 6.0 grains
    180 GR. LFP IMR 700-X 5.0 grains - 5.6 grains
    185 GR. HDY JSWC IMR 700-X 4.9 grains - 5.5 grains
    200 GR. CAST LSWC IMR 700-X .4.6 grains - 5.3 grains

    230 GR. LRN IMR 700-X 4.5 grains - 5.0 grains

For the 44 Mag you can use it for low-medium power/velocity loads:

200 GR. LRNFP CAST IMR 700-X 4.3 grains 818 fps at 11,700 CUp
200 GR. NOS JHP IMR 700-X 10.1 grains 1300 fps at 40,000 CUP

240 GR. LSWC CAST IMR 700-X 9.5 grains 1185 fps at 40,000 CUP

Buy a reloading manual while you're shopping.

Start here first. Look at what components you can match up. If you have questions call Hodgdon directly for more guidance.

AA#2 is very good for .45ACP. In some of the loads it's accurate with a very low SD in some tests done several years ago. I know a lot of people like 700X too.

.45 is a low pressure cartridge, .44 magnum is high pressure. You can shoot plinking loads using either of these powders in .44 mag, but no full-house stuff. Both powders are good for .45ACP.
          all the best,
          Mike
There are some people that it's just not worth engaging.

It's a muzzle BRAKE, not a muzzle break. Or is your muzzle tired?
