.457 ball for shotgun, load information

Wondering if anyone has made a 12 ga load with .457 diameter lead? If so, how many balls were in the load, powder used, and grains?

That's a really odd size unless you are talking about a 32ga.
That size ball is too large to fit next to each other in a 12ga bore so they have to be single stacked one behind the next.
3/0 buckshot is as large as you can go in 12ga with tandem balls.
Now, if you had a 4 gauge, you could fit 2-3 of those balls alongside each other...

Just load a 12ga slug instead.

That's why I ask, I have a box of these, and would like to load them if its possible. I would think I would have to use a buffer with the load, to keep a decent pattern.

Naw, not worth it, I am not a black powder guy, and don't like the old style muzzle loaders. I might just do a pay it forward and give it to someone who has that type of weapon if I can't load these for my 12 gauge.

Not that I've EVER loaded shotshells (in other words I'm winging it here), but isn't this a function of weight of shot over powder charge? Is the type of shot relevant to powder charge?

Seems to me like you could buffer it with BB, #4 or something like that to make a (in theory) heavy hitting buck shot with the coverage of shot?

Just figured I'd but my $.01 in (dunno if that was worth a whole $.02).

That's what I am trying to find out from someone who may have played around with a load and ball of the diameter I have, but I agree, I think its doable, I am hoping someone can give me some data.
