    Loads for .223 62 gr

Just came into possession of a bunch of 62 gr fmj. Have varget, tac and 2230 powder. Anyone have any ideas?

If you want a good starting point, 25gr usually a good mid load. Go .2 or .3 above and below to find a sweet spot. Chrono rounds for SD and seat to a little less than mag length or to the cannelure.

If it's for an AR / Semi that is.

With Varget I would load 24gr,leaving room in the case for bullets up to 80gr.

Out of a 20" .223 Wylde AR barrel, I got the following results:

          62g Hornady
          24.0g Varget
          2707fps

          62g Hornady
          24.5g Varget
          2806fps

Both grouped less than an inch at 100 yards.
