plastic 223 cases

I went to the range today and there was a few 223 cases that were plastic 3/4 the way up, any ideas what they are????

I've seen them before, grey plastic? I had one in my range bag years ago, but I have no idea what happened to it. IIRC, it was PMC stamped.

it's something that manufacturers experiment from time to time. they do it partially for material costs, but mostly for weight savings.

it never goes anywhere.

These are NATEC PCA brand. They went out of business.

I have spoken to the company at the SHOT show couple of years ago. They had several different colors for different loads.

it sure did fail, but it sure was a idea..

Yes it failed big time. I was at the range yesterday at Sacramento Valley shooting center and there were some of these casings ( gray ) on the ground. After picking up a few I noticed that the neck at the sholder of the casing was cracked or seperated and some showed signs of melting. May have been a good idea at the time, but if they observed these problems like several others have commented on why did it pass through the testing process? Seems like a liability issue for the company to manufacture and sell in my opinion what appears as unsafe ammunition.
