For me (Humboldt County) 9mm has been relatively reasonable when on sale. $15 a box for range ammo has been doable every couple months for the last 6 months.
In a weird side note, I primarily shoot .45 acp. That is still ridiculously priced but for some reason higher end .45 ammo, like defensive ammo is drastically coming down in price. Essentially a box of 50 of jhp’s of name brand good ammo (Winchester or hornady) is only a few dollars more than fmj, like $35 vs $30. This is the reason I’ve been shooting my Glock 26 a lot more in the last year.
Pre pandemic I had bought 1200 rounds of pmc bronze 230 grain ball ammo for $407. Slowly but surely. 45 ACP is still way up there in comparison to 9mm.
It’s low enough that I stocked up to capacity again.
What has been hurting is I have been grabbing lots of 30-06…that is 1.25-1.50/round on a good day.
