Does this 38 load look kosher?

Pretty much what I said in post #3. Pull 'em, re-do.

Wouldn't shoot it personally, even in a firearm that can definitely handle the described load. Can't be sure it is what is labeled 100%. Maybe someone had a few beers that day before loading. Maybe their cat was sick, and they couldn't afford the vet bills and their focus was on how to get the cash. If I screw up my reloads, well that's one thing. Risking someone else screwing it up? Not interesting to me.Comment

I would not assume anything good or bad. Pull a couple of projectiles and do some investigation. How much powder? What kind of powder? What is the actual projectile in there? How does the actual load data (after investigation) line up with recommended load data in the book? (or on the box in question) Don’t assume what’s written on the box is what’s in the box and vice versa. Probably easy enough to make everything right by simply doing some basic research and reload accordingly (if even necessary).Last edited by Daddo; 04-13-2022, 10:37 PM."Don't live in fear...it's not a good look."

OK, for round two I have another old salty box of 38. Also fitted with Hornaday 158gr projectiles seated unusually deep in a 38 special casing.
These appear to be in similar condition to the others, though rather than being loaded with 700x, the box shows as being loaded with 15 grains of Hodgdon H110, a well known magnum powder. Both the Lyman and Nosler manuals show 15gr as a middle-high load for 357mag.
Note that the box says HOT!!, with not one, but TWO exclamation points!!
Send it?
