    Barnes Load Data

I'm getting some prelim research done to help my son start loading for his new Browning X Bolt in 300PRC. He is wanting to run the Barnes 175gr LRX for now. New Lapua brass, Federal 215GM primers, and RL-26.

When I look at Barnes' load data, I see them showing a max charge of 78.5gr of RL-26 at 3.525"

When I plug those numbers into my QuickLoad, it looks like they are leaving A LOT of performance on the table. 55,000psi for the maximum load? I'm certain I'm missing something here and would really like some input.

not sure if the quickload takes into account the solid construction of the Barnes bullet.
      Just a guess
A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.

You gonna put your faith in tested load data or an algorithm?

        Seems the velocities jive.

But every rifle is different. Start somewhere and work to your objective while monitoring. I wouldn't lock into one powder either.

Maybe talk to Barnes and see if there's a reason they stopped there and if they can tell you what pressure they obtained in their test barrel.

That's only a grain or two off other sites for max load for copper pills. It's already cookin, why test it. Ladder up and check those primers.
