Factory second 77 gr on Midway

Seems cheap to me but I don't follow bullets like these. .24 each.

Why, so you can tell your friends they are 77s? I only buy 2nds as blasting around ammo. You'll have to do testing, measuring and culling as there's a reason for the discount.

The link to Powder valley is Nosler regular production Custom Competition. That is a great price. The Shooter Pro shop seconds and blems can be inconsistent. The Midwayusa blems are probably Hornady. Midsouth supply usually has Hornady blems listed as Match Monster.

Blems can be a great deal or a gamble.

At least one of the reviews said it was SMK. We'll see.

Although I won't load any for awhile because my loading crap is packed away.

They made a “wild azz guess “ since Sierra never sells seconds outside of their company store in Missouri. Most likely they are Nosler or maybe Speer.

Generally the Nosler are good, but some lots have a few unexpected flyers. A few years back both Midwayusa and Wideners sold some Privi blems that were unbelievably bad
I have been using the Nosler blems for NRA Highpower over 10 years and they are fine. The 77s have some variations usually 77.0 gr with 10% maybe up to 77.5 grain. For me this work out to 3/4 moa. The 80gr are usually high quality and no flyers At 600yds

I wouldn't be able to tell the difference anyway, unless they came in a box that said who made them.

I'm not even sure why I bought them. Impulse buy I guess, since I've never shot a .223 bullet over 62 grains in my life.

My bullets arrived today, in a plain brown wrapper.

They look like they're about .224, they look like they're about 77 gr. Any way to tell what they are?

Use some calipers and measure from the ogive. You don't want to get excessive pressure by seating to deep. Also grab a scale and weight them all. Sort by weight for more consistent patterns.

All my loading crap is packed away. I have no idea where my scale is.
