Jacketed vs Plated ???

Plated bullets often have speed limits. I would check with the mfr. to see if they specify a fps upper limit.
I use plated bullets for non-magnum calibers (9mm, .38 Special, .45 auto) but have loaded for .357 magnum with reduced charges to keep the speed down. I typically will taper crimp them.

Load data from any load manual or website can be used. Full-metal jacketed, lead bullet, or plated bullet load data can be used as long as the following standards are adhered to:
The data contains the correct grain weight of bullet.
Berry's max recommended velocity is not exceeded. (This info is displayed on bullet boxes and product webpages.)
Standard Plate Bullets Max Velocity: 1,250 fps.
Thick-Plate Bullets (TP) Max Velocity: 1,500 fps.
Do not over-crimp the bullet. Crimping so tight that bullet deformation occurs, or plating is separated causing visible exposure of the lead core will cause tumbling, key-holing, and reduced accuracy.
Load data containing bullet descriptions such as Plated (P,) Berry's Bullet (BERB,) Total Metal Jacket (TMJ,) Copper Plated (CP,) or CPJ (Copper Plated Jacket,) refers to plated bullet data.Comment

Isn't a Desert Beagle gas operated? I'd be worried about plating chipping off into the gas system.Comment

As previously stated, plated stuff can't be pushed as hard as jacketed and you're going to want to stick to published load data. The DE might need a decent amount of powder/gas just to run. I know the 50AE stuff needs a full house load to run and cycle. Point is, there's a good chance that the DE will be jamming like crazy before you even get the gas system to clogThe dude abides...Comment

I use Berry's thick plated 44's and 50's in my Deagle. The 44's are rated for 1850fps and the 50's are rated for 2000fps. I pack'em full with H110 and they print fantastically with quite the light show!
Sent from my moto g stylus 5G using TapatalkMan, this place has gone bonkers.Comment

Berry's has some plated bullets that take higher velocities, check the box.
I use them in my .500- out of my 5.5" barrel, they're fine, even near full power (350gr). Out of a 7.5" barrel, sometimes one will hit a few feet off to either side. I assume the plating is shedding 🤣Comment

I’ve used Berry’s plated bullets to load .38 Spl and lower powered .357, using my Lee 9mm taper crimp die instead of my Lee .38/.357 roll crimp die. I struggled getting a roll crimp on plated bullets that didn’t feel as though it was compromising the plating. I flat out won’t roll crimp a plated bullet. These loads have done well for me - terms of accuracy and performance. I don’t load .44 and don’t pretend to know a thing about it, so couldn’t say if there was an equivalent taper die out there, but figured it was worth mentioning.Comment
