    45 auto bullet seating

I have been loading rifle for a while but recently started loading my handgun
ammo too. On my 45 auto I am getting a small circular indentation about halfway down the bullet when seating it. Something tells me I need to make
    an adjustment. Suggestions?

Its the seater plug leaving the mark.

You could try removing the seater plug stem and give it a final polish. Sadly
when one save money on reloading dies, the way they pass the savings on to
the consumer is by leaving out those little details.

That is what separates quality dies from adequate ones.

As long as the bullet isn't "deformed" by this ring around the collar, I wouldn't
worry too much about it, as its purely cosmetic.

do you mean smaller diameter below the bullet? I get this some cases are thicker and the bullet bulges a bit if it chambers it is OK

while it is the seating plug leaving the mark, you may have the die adjusted so that the case is being crimped before the bullet is fully seated. Try backing off the die, seating the bullet to depth desired then readjusting die and crimp as a separate operation -- Many seating plugs only perfectly fit one bullet shape, even the most expensive. A seating plug can be polished out for a good fit or can also be filled with epoxy for a perfect fit -- My ha-penny

          That's my suspicion as well.

Thanks, I'll back up and start over. Do you mean to back out top knob?

No, back out the die body.
