The ammo shortage is officially over (at least in Mesa AZ)

    There's a Bass Pro in Mesa AZ that's fully stocked with ammo, including .22, .38 special, 9mm, .556, .308....

It was expensive, sure. But the only thing I didn't see was .357. I even bought some Federal Small Pistol Primers.

In time I'm sure prices will come down. I don't think they're ever going back to what they were, but they'll be cheaper than it is now.

I can reload any pistol ammo for about $0.25 a round. What does it cost you guys to reload rifle, shotgun rounds?

That's a loaded question, pun intended.

It all depends on how you define cost. I have primers I bought for 3 cents apiece, powder I bought for under $10/pound and 50 grain VMAX projectiles I bought for 12 cents apiece. On that basis I can load 50 grain VMAX rounds for 18 cents. If I have a big enough stash of components, this is a real price because I won't have to worry about replacement.

If I buy those components today, the primers are anywhere from 9-15 cents. powder is about $30/pound and the projectiles are around 23 cents, so say 43-49 cents per round. Still better than factory ammo of the same type at $2 per.

Yeah, I was talking about current prices, not stuff you bought 20 years ago.

My son just had a friend buy him some 5.56 in Montana, reasonably priced.

I can't tell you guys to come to AZ and buy ammo, that would be illegal and this place is loaded with narcs. What I can tell you is that in some point in time California will catch up with the rest of the country, and you can beg your messiah newsom for permission to buy some.

The ammo shortage is not “officially over” till prices come back to normal. I’d accept $0.20/round for 9mm, although I was paying $0.12-$0.16/round

And gas was under $3 a gallon. It's never going back down to that.

I've seen jacketed bullets for 9 cents, powder is probably 3 or 4 cents. The trick is the primer.

We've had a pretty good selection in Prescott, but thankfully I don't want or need any factory ammo.

Been able to buy whatever I need from a few online Arizona vendors. Some decent pricing if I were to pick it up instead of shipping.
