45-70 on Dillon or single stage?

I plan on reloading 45-70 soon and not sure whether to use my existing Dillon 650 (manually feeding brass) or a separate single stage like RCBS Rebel or Hornady Lock-N-Load. If I were to get the 45-70 add-ons for the Dillon it would come close in cost in getting a RCBS or Hornady single stage kits along with dies.

Thoughts?

How much 45-70 are you planning to reload? I have a couple forster co-ax single stage presses and it’s really not that much work. I was also loading thrm on an rcbs rock chucker but like my co-ax so much more that I chucked the chucker. I like the forster single stage because I can swap dies out in seconds and go from loading starline full size to hornady short cases immediately.

Dont buy the Hornady. Mine is about 10 years old. Used alot.
I bought a RCBS rebel to replace the hornady. Right now i only use the hornady for decappig.

I do my 4570 on a separate lee because as you mentioned it would cost a lot just to be able to convert a dillon to do 4570.

I would hand feed on the Dillon as I wouldn't make more than 200 at a time.

i cant reload 357 without mushing a case or two accidentally i cant imagine how much flopping around a 45-70 would do

Single stage or turret. Then you'll have it for other uses as well.

I'd assume you won't be burning through hundreds of rounds at a time. I'm lucky to get through 20. For low quantity, I just use single-stage or turret. I reserve the Dillon for cranking out 100's of rounds - and 45-70 doesn't fall in that category.

I use my RCBS single stage press for the 45-70 since it is not high volume loading. I batch process the brass and hand prime.
All rifle brass and most pistol brass are done on one of my RCBS presses. The 650 is for 9mm Luger and 45ACP

If you are looking at doing 45-70 and another low production caliber it may be worth looking a turret press. I will save a bit of time on set up.

I use the lee classic turret. Cost me $90, 30 for the dies, 10 for the shell, 35 for the funnel.

Thanks all for your replies! I think I will go for the RCBS Rebel Master Kit. Seems to be a popular one as it's the newer version of the Rock Chucker.
