I read about them earlier and to be honest for the cost does it really offset anything for your casual hunter or shooter? I'm betting it doesn't.

True. Weight reduction/more rounds, barrel heat reduction with full auto are primarily military use advantages. Case color options (tracer rounds, etc.) would also fall into the same category. However, with the advances in 3D printing tech/materials, this avenue might get interesting.

Using rough numbers, a .308 brass case weights about 175 grains (39/lb). Assume a projectile weight of 150, plus 50 grains of powder, plus zero for the primer. So that's 375 grains altogether. 30% is about 110 grains. For 60 of them the weight savings is one pound. For a typical day out hunting with, say 20 rounds, the weight savings is just over 5 ounces. All this for a round that costs close to twice as much as the lead-free rounds that have some people up in arms over the cost.

Also, $3.50 per round is a non starter for me. I'm not a good enough rifleman to be able to take advantage of whatever superior accuracy they are claiming.

My loads (derived through several experiments in powder charge weight and bullet choices) are better at accuracy than I am. When all the stars line up I can cover three shots at 100 yards with a quarter. And I can reload the brass and start over.

But whenever I used to go big game hunting, I would get a case of buck fever that would cancel all that out anyway.

There is no such thing as "Aircraft-Grade Aluminum". Typical clue-less marketing pap.

These might be worth considering but they need to get their act together.
