    S&W Ammunition

Anybody remembered when S&W marketed their own ammunition?

    Yup.
Might even have a box here somewhere.

I have a few rounds of original Super-Vel too.

You think Smith just subcontracted out? What are the headstamps?

You can read that tiny writing? I'm on a 27" Retina 5K screen and they are fuzzy. Enlighten me.

My Nyclad ammo hails from 1984 when it was already on the out.

              From gunvaluesboard.

              Two Old Dogs
"The ammunition in question was loaded by Smith and Wesson-Fiocchi, a S&W-Fiocchi joint venture, located at 3640 Seminary Road, Alton,Il. The facilities were the former Alcan shotshell brand Factory.
The .38 Special and the complete SW-F line of ammunition, Handgun and Shotgun, was loaded to SAMMI specifications.
I was the Sales Coordinator for the company in 1972.
The venture was dissolved in late 1972."

Federal eventually bought the rights to Nyclad and fixed it so it would actually expand.

              It's not PTSD, it's nostalgia.

Somewhere I have some of their 90 gr 357 mag soft point rounds. Supposed to be rated at 2000fps out of an 8" barrel.

I used to go into Cheshire & Perez in Monrovia now and then, they had tons of S&W ammo. I still reload the nickle plated 38 and 357 cases I have had for 40+ years. I think I tossed all the boxes, unfortunately.

Some of their best offerings was their snubby load of a Nyclad HP which would actually expand
