    Need input on powder scale

Looking to purchase a new electronic powder scale, I currently have a RCBS . The problem I have is I have to constantly rezero the as it begins to wander. Any input is appreciated

Do you have fluorescent lights near or above your loading bench? Do you have an air register or fan in that room? It doesn't take much of a disturbance to move a scale by .1 grains.

    How much does it wander?

I have a Chargemaster Lite and it seems to be more consistent than either the inexpensive Cabelas electronic scale or the Ohaus beam scale I've used in the past. In the case of the beam scale, I have a tendency to jostle the scale, which means it has to be re-zeroed periodically. My reloading room has fluorescent lights that I will change over to LEDs as the ballasts fail (or perhaps earlier since the LEDs are brighter) and in-floor radiant heat, so there's very little air movement once the temperature stabilizes in the morning.

I installed the LED lights in my garage, I gotta tell ya that they are BRIGHT!
Now I have airplanes attempting to land at the new are strip!!

You are correct on all of your advice though, I have also had a few issues with a wireless house phone making my electronic scale go wonky. My trusty O'Hous beam never has an issue.

I had twin tuned Chargemasters but was a little disappointed in their overall accuracy. SD's were always 8-12, but I just wanted a little more consistency with less under/over throws requiring manual intervention. I finally made the investment to the AutoTrickler V3 and haven't looked back. SD's in the 3-6 range. It can throw a complete charge in about 7-10 seconds but I slowed mine down a lot for the last 1 grain and it takes mine about 15 seconds but hardly ever any over or under throws, and by over-or-under I'm talking about .2g (one kernel of Varget) either way from the desired charge weight. It is spendy, but to me the amount of time I bought back is a worthwhile investment for the volume I shoot.

I have a Pact that I've been happy with. My reloading room has both LED "fluorescent" light fixtures and in-floor radiant heat, and with the exception of a 1970's era 2 channel stereo receiver there are no other electronics in the room. I use it when loading hunting rifle rounds, but honestly I can throw powder charges just as accurately and faster manually. The electronic PACT works great and is consistent, and I periodically check the weight charges on a separate scale to verify.

Always looking for vintage Winchester and Marlin lever action rifles. Looking to sell? Know of one for sale? Drop me a line!

The RCBS unit I have is the only one that did not wander or just plain quit on me.
You might want to check your lights, TV and other electrical stuff that is near it for the problem

Also try leaving your cellphone in the house. One loader I knew found his cellphone to cause scale drift. I would see my scale drift if the garage door was open and a car or truck drove by.

I have a cheap little one from BPI. It's been solid. Usually use it on shotgun and to quick check the balance beam on any "precision" rifle.
