Texan die sets, anyone use?

I happen to win a bid on fleabay for 7mm Mauser. They work and was just curious if anyone knew much about them. They look well made and are black. I google so maybe they went out of business years ago.

That's one of them fancy smancy seating dies that you can change to different calibers I bet and has a super fine adjuster.

It has a super find adjuster and ogive seating for longer bullets but only one caliber at a time because the bottom hugs the body of a specific case.

I never used any Texan metallic stuff. Used a single stage Texan shotshell load for decades. Well built.

And ya, been out of business for decades.

^^ Same here. I had a Texan progressive for a while, it was built like a tank. Probably still have a Texan bushing or two around here somewhere.

Sorry, no experience with Texan dies though.

Is the dark hex section part of the die body?

A jamb nut, aka "jam nut" is a nut that locks another nut in position by "thread binding" it. Usually thinner than the nut it is binding.

Maybe an optical illusion. Looks like dark jamb nut on top of cheesy condom nut.

If so, no wonder they went broke. Greatly increases sacrificed matl in the machining process. And makes the whole production process more difficult. As well as a bigger, more expensive blank to start with.

I like many Lee products, but their nuts suck nuts. Sure they hold once tightened. But as soon as you unscrew the damn die. The nut is loose. And you have to readjust the die every time you screw it into the press next time.

Yes the hex section is part of the die body. Just realized none of my other dies have that. They didn't realize they only need 2 flat spots at the top =/

I was buying Lee originally but changed most to RCBS as I came across them and sold the Lee. They worked fine but when I called RCBS and they just mailed me replacement pieces that impressed the heck out of me.
