    Reload equipment

I'm wanting to start reloading. Can someone tell me what I need. I hate buying things twice, so I'm interested in top quality equipment. I want to reload 300prc, 30-06, 6.5CR, etc...

Are there good quality progressive machines or is all rifle done one round at a time.

    Thanks for help and suggestions

Accuracy or blasting around? Those sound like quality rounds you want to make. If you want progressive and super accuracy, you're looking at +500 just for the press not to mention a powder drop and weigh system, trimmer, calipers, annealing machine, quality dies, then all the right components which are hard to find right now. Many people can't find PRC brass and the optimal powder for those calibers.

Always start with a single stage press.

Well if your serious about it you should start by buying and reading a reloading book as the information and data will be invaluable. I would strongly suggest getting a single stage press first.
After that start building up a supply of essential components primers, powders, and casing in all calibers (what you don't reloading for you can trade or sale).

Buy the Lyman #50 Reloading Manual and READ it!! That will answer 90%+ of your questions.
To start with buy the RCBS Rockchucker Kit.
Dillon is the way to go for a progressive.
Even if you own a progressive you will want a single stage for some loading. I have a Dillon set up for 9mm Luger and 45ACP but do all my loading for rifle and other pistol cartridges on my single stage presses. I have a RCBS RC and Jr as well as a Hornady. The RC is used for sizing rifle brass and pulling bullets. The Jr is used for other pistol loading and seating bullets in rifle cartridges since it has more feel. The Hornady is only for 50BMG.

If you live near me you can come by and I will walk you thru the process, give you some tips and shortcuts and let you load a round or two so you get the feel of it.
A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.

I’ve cranked out 3 pulls a round on my 50+ year old C&H single stage press for30 years now. I don’t shoot enough to want anything else.I’ve loaded 308,30-06,30-30, 223, 45-70 in rifle and 9,40, 10mm,44 mag, 38/357, 45acp and LC in pistol.Bought all my equipment 2nd hand.. most came in one lot from the widow of a long time benchrest shooter. Those deals are a lot harder to come by these days . Good luckOP.

I got the Lee Classic Cast Press and I use the Hornady quick change bushings and that was a great investment. I can change out dies very quickly.

For big rifle cartridges like .308, 30-06, etc., I would stick with a single stage. I use the Hornady Lock N Load for big cartridges, and it is a pain. It is probably faster using a single stage.

                        This right here……

That’s what I started with. I have others now. Still have it. Still use the single stage.

When you're first starting out you want to go as slow as possible, not as fast.

My personal recommendation, after buying THREE presses, is to buy the Lee Classic turret press. Then, when you are starting, take OUT the operating rod and use like a single stage until you get familiar with every step. THEN reinstal the rod.

The turret press is fast enough to a progressive and can be easily made into a single stage.

They are inexpensive, starting at less than 200.00, usually less than 150.00.

                            Just my .02.

                              Read this.

I still use this setup today, even though I also now have progressive presses on my bench.
