Idle dillon 1050 - sell it or keep it?

I've got a 1050 that's setup for 223 processing. Case hopper, trimmer, dies, swage, etc... (all the goodies) Honestly, it needs a full cleaning and oiling but otherwise works perfectly.

I've got about 4 full 5gal buckets of 223 brass and I've got some 20k projectiles along with what's necessary to complete them. I'm also flush with factory ammo.

So my dilemma is, do I keep the 1050 for some future use? or sell it off? If I sell it, what's the market like? I really haven't kept up with what's going on. Been out of competing for about 4 years now.

I have a 650 that I still use to load all my pistol ammo, that one I'm keeping. I am also considering buying a 750 so one press is small primer and the other is large primer.

    So conflicted right now...

If you are going to sell, now is the time.

I was in the market to upgrade my system then all this CV nonsense hit, and now I'm just waiting it out with what I have as good enough.

I agree, sell it now, after processing all your brass.

Then buy a used 650. They are pop up, I think 2 are for sale right now in the reloading for sale forum.

All reloading equipment and components are pretty much at their peak, prcing wise

Here's a suggestion for how to make the decision.

First, if you're flush with factory ammo and that factory ammo works for you, how long 'till you shoot it all?

        Second, how old are you?

If you have enough factory ammo to last you for the remainder of your shooting years or most of that time, and if you're happy with that ammo, get rid of the press and the components while we're still in a seller's market. Put the $5k or so your .223 stuff and the 1050 are worth in the bank and use it to buy more factory ammo if you every run out.

If you're young and occupied with kids and other such things, maybe you want to hang on to the press and the components unless you don't see yourself or your kids doing much shooting.

I go through a similar thought process very time I see an attractive deal on components for one of my rifle calibers. I don't have kids, my shooting friends are all my age, and there is no reason to leave heirs with the headache of getting rid of the stuff.

FWIW (probably not much) I also don't keep a lot of finished ammunition around. It can't legally be sold and even giving it away to other shooters raises liability issues.

Why can't you keep the 1050 for large pistol and the 650 for small ? why sell the 1050 just to buy a 750. I would love to have a 1050 for 9mm for my son-in-law who shoots like if the ammo was free (he uses my components, so I guess it is free), I would not get rid of it if I was you.

I do understand the concept of 2 setups, I have 2 650's one small and one for large, but the 1050 is still a dream of mine. By the way, a 1050 should pay for a 750 in this day and age, unless I made you offer on it, then the 1050 might not buy a cup of coffee.

The caliber swaps are a bitch on the 1050 compared to the 650 or even the 750. I load and shoot multiple calibers in each small and large pistol and I also still load small and large rifle, so the dual 650's or even dual 750's would be much better for me. Plus I have bullet feeders and plates for each caliber.

I spent the last 2 days tearing the super 1050 down, cleaning and oiling everything to ensure it's all working as designed.

I recently picked up another S1050 so wouldn't have to change calibers so I get the multiple machines. I paid $ 1600 shipped from East Coast

I'd keep it but that's just me

People who have 1050's usually dedicate one for each high volume cartridge.
Pick your highest volume cartridge and leave the 1050 setup for that.
                I have them for 9mm and 223.
Then I have 550's for that are even easier to swap setups for all the lower volume cartridges.
                I have a 650 I leave setup for processing 223 brass.

No 650 or 750 does as good a job of swaging as a 1050 so another alternative is to keep the 1050 for your cartridge that you are most likely going to need to swage brass for.

I started with one and swapped calibers. Now have 3. Got them much less than retail over the years. Now would seem a good time to get ur money out of it.

Keep it. With inflation everything is going up. You might want the same machine in a few years but then you'll pay more.
