    Need Advice for Long Range Reloading

    Gentlemen,

    I can use some advice. I have a match AR15, 20 inch barrel. I would like to reach out to 600 yards consistently and perhaps beyond with it. I am using Sierra 77 and 80 grain bullets. I have IMR 8208 powder. Does anyone have any pet loads that they can share with me on my project? I appreciate any assistance. Please PM me for response. Thank you.

    Nobody else's load data is going to work the same in your gun. Gotta work up your own loads.

      I built my match barrel with a 16". Still shoots tight. Varget, full size and using 68 Barnes.

          Buy the Hornady reloading manual, it has the 8208XBR data.

          If your upper has CLE chamber, then you can use the 77s up to 600 yards.

          Those two bullets are optimized for 600 yards.

            The Sierra 77 gr TMK have a slightly better ballistic coefficient than the similar OTM bullet and shoot similarly well in my rifles. The black hills 77 gr TMK or OTM 5.56 loads shot super well when they used to be available and they were loaded fairly hot so they had very good velocity. Hope those eventually become available again, because they were about as good as handloads from my Shilen barreled AR.

                Pretty much this, since the OP has already selected his projectiles and powder.

                Work up your ladders, collect your data, and you will have your answer.

                    This is what I would do. Conduct internet searches on the bullet and powder that you have selected and you will get a range of powder charges. Select a range of powder charges and conduct a ladder test. Go to http://bulletin.accurateshooter.com/ and read up on how to do a ladder test.
