How Many Started With Lee And Upgraded

I have a Rockchucker for my precision Varmint guns and a Lee 4 hole turret press for my pistol and .223 ammo. I don't feel a need to upgrade. I can make about 200 rounds of pistol ammo per hour on the turret press at a steady pace without rushing or trying to be fast. That suits me just fine.

I have mostly Lee dies and some RCBS dies.

Pretty hard to beat Lee for value.

Bought a Lee starter kit from Midway wayy.... back in '85 it lasted me 6 months and I was given a used RCBS Rock Chucker.... What a difference back then... I would resize 308 rounds and the amount of flex the Lee press had was appaling!!!

Back when I was doing some casting, had a Lee mold... otherwise, have never used Lee products.

I have 2 hyundai's. I have 2 Lee's. I love them both. I wish that I could buy a Hyundai truck... I will by more Lee Pro 1000's

I have the Lee Classic Turret. I now have the Hornady Progressive and man the spent primer tube is wonderful. The quick change system is beautiful and I also like the easy powder and caliber changes on the Hornady. That being said I still use the following Lee product:
Lee universal decapper (great for all calibers)
Lee Hand Priming Tool
Lee Primer Pocket Cleaner
Lee Carbide Pistol die set along with Autodisk Powder measure (honestly it is almost set it and forget it simple. Pick the powder charge and leave it forever)
Lee Case length gage with Ball Trimmer(Attach shell holder to drill and watch TV)

Probably need to get a better chamfer tool as mine isn't working that great anymore.

I tried a Lee 223 factory crimp die.
It trashed the brass pretty bad so I quit using it.
No such problem with normal taper crimp die.

I started with and still use Lee Dies and a turret press for pistol (4 calibers) I used lee dies for rifle and still use Lee neck sizers and a decapping die. I now use Redding sizers and seater for the stuff I shot to be accurate with, (.223, .308) I would like to get a Rockchucker to load the accurate rifle loads with, but I don'tt think I'll ever go to a Dillon unless I strike it rich.

I have a Lee hand press with Lee dies for short runs of calibers I don't shoot very often.

I use a Dillon SDB for the calibers I shoot most often (.45 & 9mm) and use Dillon dies (have to with the SDB).

I will also use the Lee hand press as a universal decapper when I am making match ammo and need to clean & resize the primer pockets before running through the Dillon.

Have no experience with other Lee equipment, but the hand press is great.

I still own a Lee turret press I think its a great device. However, I like progressives and for that IMHO you need a Dillon. While the turret press is great, Lee progressives have been a nightmare. Great ideas but shoddily made (back in the early-mid 90's). I went Dillon and have been quite happy since BUT... for low volume stuff like 375H&H or 45-70, the Lee turret has been excellent.

I still use the Lee dies for all my reloading (except I use a Redding die for neck sizing 7.5 Swiss). I haven't seen a need to "upgrade" as the reloads I work up with the Lee dies are accurate enough for my needs.

Randall, your experience with Lee Factory Crimp vs taper crimp are exact opposite of my experience. I always trash the brash w/ taper crimpers, and the Lee Factory crimp die does a perfect job. In fact, I am in the process of getting Lee Precision to make a custom crimp die for 35 Whelen. Cost, about $35

Started with a cheap Lee press, but broke it resizing rifle brass. Upgraded that when a coworker gave me a Rockchucker.

And no, I don't crank out 1000 rounds a day so it's fine for me.

You are doing something wrong.
Are you seating and crimping at the same time?

I rarely need to crank out 1000+ rounds a day, but I did a couple weeks ago just before I went to the ironman.
I took 600 rounds of 223, 550 rounds of 9mm, 300 shotshells, 50 buckshot and 100 slugs.
I shot almost all of that too.

I own two sets of Lee dies...but everything else is RCBS.
I found the set up and consistency of RCBS to suit me a little better.
I was thinking of getting the Lee Pro 1000 for handgun loads. Are you saying
don't bother?

I bought a Lee press in 1981 and am still loading on it. I've added other brands of presses over the years but I use the Lee also. I just bought a set of Lee dies last week and I have Lyman, Redding, Pacific and Redding dies also.
