Dillon single stage adapter problem

Just received, assembled, and started using my new Dillon single stage adapter. This adapter is not made by Dillon, When using the sizing, decapping die the spent primers stack up inside the shell holder adapter bolt. This setup is being used in a 550 series Dillon. After sizing, decapping about 10 - 15 rounds I have to clear the spent primers off the plate and out of the adapter bolt. Anyone else having same problem ? Thanks in advance...captn-tin

I don’t have an answer to your question, but my suggestion would be to do a separate decapping operation using the 1st stage of the Dillon in regular configuration.

I use a Dillon 550 mostly for precision rifle loading. For that, I use it as a 1 or 2 stage press, not full progressive. So I decap in one operation, clean, then prime/neck size in a second operation, then manually load powder and seat in a third operation. If I am full length resizing, I do that as a separate operation. When I do 45acp, I use it as a regular progressive press. I have used the single stage conversion for seating, but didn’t find it that much better than the regular configuration. I do use it for some specialty operations (bullet pointing, loading 22LR and a few other things).

What are you loading, and what benefit are you looking for from the single stage conversion?

Benefit... Save room on my bench. Cheaper than buying a new single stage press, by about $100 or so. The primers were stacking up while decapping 9mm brass. I know what you're saying, but their, SOLOS engineers, should have seen this problem and corrected it before going to market with it...Doncha think? The single stage adapter is not made by Dillon. It is an after market piece to be used on Dillon presses.

I can’t think of any good reason to recap 9mm brass with the single stage conversion v in the normal progressive configuration, so I don’t see any engineering design problem. And I believe that the single stage conversion is third pay product, not a Dillon design.
