CCI Mini Mag testing: Marlin 60 vs Ruger 10/22

I've been shooting CCI Mini-Mags since the 80's and it's always been my gold standard for 22LR. But it's been decades since I actually measured how it shot in my Marlin 60. I thought it was high time I re-checked my baseline assumptions.

In a previous ammo test with Aguila Super Extra HV, I found very little difference in performance when shot with a Ruger 10/22 and Marlin 60. The results in this test were even more surprising to me, with the Ruger 10/22 slightly edging out the Marlin 60; which I always thought was the more accurate rifle.

Of course, my rifle isn't your rifle. Ammo batches change over time. As does gun manufacturing technology. What this is a perfect example of: it's never a bad idea to periodically take new readings of your old standards.

I'm thinking that semi-auto rifles are not the best platform to see what ammo is "best".
Always looking for vintage Winchester and Marlin lever action rifles. Looking to sell? Know of one for sale? Drop me a line!

The Ruger 10/22 and Marlin 60 are two of the most popular rifles in use.
Combined together they may be the most used .22 rifles in the world.
What works best in them is of interest to many.
Some ammo may shoot more accurately in other guns but will that ammo reliably cycle the action?
Mini Mags are my gold standard for reliable operation, if a gun won't work with them the gun needs fixing.

Most semi pistols which gag on golden bullet, etc., will work just fine with mini mags.
