    Old primers stuck to packaging?

Found some old cci magnum spp that have been forgotten for about 8 years.

Went to load them up and about 10% were stuck to the packaging, had to RIP the packaging open, and there were yellow stains on the white paper / cardboard.

Loaded them up and I guess I'll find out soon enough, but until then, have any of you experienced this? Did you load them? Did they work?

I've seen stains but mixture seemed fine but I'm no chemist. I haven't seen any issues with ignition. Getting stuck means the mixture leaked out and bonded? That might poise an issue IMO.

Primers are made wet and dried for fire-ability. Maybe moisture got into yours turned it wet, created some excess.

The primers "can" fail, less ignition. Possibly for squibs.

*but don't take it from me, I am a noob at reloading as I when I do, I do by hand reload. Don't have fancy equipment like probably everyone of reloaders on forum lol.

Since you loaded them your intent must be to find out if they work. Either way, be sure to follow up and let us know! Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

You can prime brass and safely shoot the empty but primed case for testing, in your garage. It's about as loud as a 22 short or gallery load out of a full length rifle.

              +1

That's what I would have done . Find a few of what you might think are the worst ones and prime a few empty cases . Then fire them off ( no bullet or powder .

I will add primers stored correctly may last 100 years+ so 8 years and there's issues is concerning in it self . Maybe check the lot number for recalls . Any chance some other substance got in the primer pack and caused them to stick ?

Can you take some pictures what the primers look like before loading and then report the results, please?

                Inquiring minds want to know.

No pictures available at this time, but aside from being stuck to the cardboard and leaving skid Mark's, they all went bang!

Had some pierced primers tho, loaded up some 9mm 115gn with 5.8gn of unique.
