Based on the 3 load data manuals I use and with my other thread looking to create a new 168gr 308 load for my AR, I have a question.
When it comes to the popular calibers for AR type semiautos, why is service rifle data based on the archaic M1A? Why not have sections dedicated to AR type load data using carbine length gas system for .223 and maybe mid length gas system for 308. Is the M1A similar to the AR function? 99% of manuals are all bolt action data that is totally different parameters as a gas impingement system. I'm probably not looking at it correctly but all these companies have to know that AR is new standard.
And wtf, Hornady .223 service rifle has 68gr to 80gr projectiles. 62gr or 55gr makes more sense to have data for. Hell Hornady 10th Edition book doesn't even have their own 62gr FMJBT projectile in there. Just something that bothered me.
