One of the neat things about reloading is that you can improve on what happened during the bulk manufacturing process. The quality of a mass produced item is one thing; the precise honing of a piece of metal is another. This is still an area where humans can prevail.

Sorta, in that a machine is still more capable than us but it's not economical to produce to those tolerances for ammo. But for all intents and purposes we can produce a superior product at this time than ammo manufacturers can (given individual skill, not necessarily true of say me).

What I like about reloading is that I can produce what I want, tuned for my needs and purposes better than a manufacturer can, in quantities sufficient for me.

Maybe. Maybe not. Humans are subject to error. Bulk manufacturing is automated which means a machine designed to repeat the same operations over and over and over at a rate faster than any human could match.

It might take me a couple hours to reload a hundred rounds of .45 or 9mm. I have to decap/resize/prime/charge/seat bullet. The machine can do that in......I dunno.........3 minutes?

Machines are great at making many things fast and repeatedly but they can only do what we tell them. Since every gun is different, it takes a human to measure the differences and make a perfect round for that weapon.

Machines do things fast with tolerances. Humans can also take the tolerances out by weighing slower, using a separate machine to cut better.

It's all related to cost. That's why a hand built Lambo is more than a house in San Jose, but a Honda Civic will get you there.
