Removing Primers from APS strips?

Is it difficult to remove primers from an APS strip if you do not have any of the RCBS tools-machines designed for that purpose. I may buy some already in the strips and will need to remove them if it is not difficult.

I use a small dowel, and whittle the sides of the tip so it is the same size as the primer, keeping the tip blunt, and push them out onto a cloth from the anvil side.
