Speer .45 ammo

I'm reloading a bunch of range pickup brass, includes Speer brass. Some of this brass has large primers, some has small primers.

Anybody know what that's all about? Most of the various brands of .45 brass are fitted for large primers. Why would Speer run a batch with small primers?

i often find win-nt cases that have the small primers i throw them out as i dont want to accidentally attempt to shove in a large one

45 gap is all small pistol too

Small primers are *usually* used in .45ACP that is non toxic, i.e. for use in confined spaces without good ventilation.

They go BANG when you reload them just like anything else. I would save up at least 100, maybe 500 before I messed with reloading them. Not there yet, don't see them very often.

Now, that makes sence. I guess the implication is that lead-free primers arn't available in size large?

I collect them, and when I have a coffee can full I reload them. Brass is brass.
