I loaded a few rounds to pursue a load Ive been developing.

Admittedly, its been a while since Ive loaded ammo.

I haven’t done much myself in the way of quantity in the last couple of years. I did some 444 Marlin a few months ago (~ 100) but I feel I’m well rounded with the other calibers and the components I’ve stockpiled.

Since the wife has taken interest in my 10mm, I’ll need to ramp up for it. Pre-COVID, it was 9mm. It’ll probably change again so I don’t want to use up all my components yet.

I haven't loaded a round in 15 years. I had a fair amount loaded, and then ammo prices with rebates dropped through the floor. Doesn't make sense to load when I can buy complete rounds for less than the cost of components.

When Walmart was going out of handgun ammunition in November 2019. I was going to buy fresh 38 Special brass (been reloading since 1982). I looked and loaded Winchester and Remington ammunition was cheaper than new Starline brass.

Why buy brass when I can buy quality factory loaded ammunition?

When I started reloading 38 Special, 45 ACP and 9mm in 1982. I went with the classic loads and I still use those loads today.

There are loads that I don't shoot much and others I go through monthly, I think my batch of 50rds of 308 were from last year also.

I keep a recipe/load data book on my bench and only write/update either new loads (calibers, powders, projectiles, etc.) and once the load is "good", it's then only used for future reference.

Funny to turn to a page and see a recipe from 2012 that I'm loading up/verifying. If it ain't broke, I don't "fix" it...I also don't keep a log of each time I reload...that would be called a big log ;-)

I just reloaded some .308 rounds that were last loaded back in 1992.

Been about 6 months for me and will be at least three more before I reload anymore. This time of year my garage is 95-100 degrees, reloading is a winter sport more me. Thank goodness there is nothing I’m short on, but on a good reloading note. Just meet a guy that’s turning in his apron, getting out of the reloading game. His getting up there in age and his health and heart just aren’t in it anymore. He invited me over to look at all his equipment and components, whatever I want I can have.
