    Newbie help

I was able to secure materials to reload Shotgun shells. As I began my first box of estate/Federal hulls a lot of them mushroomed at the brass and the tops didn't crimp right. I'm using a mec 600 Jr. Also I have a few live primers in shells that won't work, I've read on other forums that I can reuse them but to deprime slowly. Any tips/advice.

Yes deprime slow and they should be reusable. They are steel and heavy duty unlike small pistol and i reuse my errors on those without issues too.

I have a lee and have buckled maybe 4 in my year of reloading but they go in, not mushroom. Not sure whay that is but it has something to do with the last 2 stations maybe. I also don't use estates, only Remington and Winchesters. I align my precrimp with the hills and valleys of the hull. Maybe the inside of the last few stations are dirty?

On that machine there is no support for the full length of the hull. If you use a stronger hull like Win AA or STS Premier or Nitro Gold you won't have this problem. Not all hulls reload easily.

Are Winchester Universal shells any good for reloading?

You can reload them but they are also thin walled.

Thank you for the help. I knew they were cheap but impulse bought 1500 shells. Learning experience!
