    Manual TriWay Trimming?

I currently only reload hand guns and want to get into reloading 223 and 308 but need a trimmer. I'm tempted to go all out for a giraud but would kind of prefer a manual version of the same concept. Is there a manual trimmer that can do a 3 way trim so its a one and done step?

RCBS. They sell 3 way cutting heads.
Check RCBS website. They should be having a rebate soon.
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.
I really miss the good old Pomona Gun Shows.
    I'm Back.

      Lee Deluxe Quick Trim

The Deluxe Quick Trim Case Trimmer quickly and precisely trims your brass to the correct length at the same time it chamfers the inside and outside of the case mouth.

I found that the quick trim needs to be cleaned or bounced a lot otherwise the brass shavings get clogged up in the springs inside, pain in the butt to take apart and clean out. Currently I am also using a WFT with a really sharp cutter for my 338lm. It doesn't need to be chamfered or deburred but I'm not sure if it will last thousands like for 556 or 308.

I have not had to clean anything out of the Lee cutter head assembly, but you do have to clear the brass shavings out of the Lee quick trim die every 20-30 cases. Takes a couple seconds.

It may be that I'm cutting as short as possible so I don't have to trim again in a long time, I'm averaging 5 cases and have to do the clear routine or I'll get stuck shavings. Maybe as a design upgrade in the future they can cut holes on the side so a shop vac can be on all the time to take the shavings. I have some ebay cheapest trimmer made of delrin instead of brearings, going to put some "carbide" end mills in it to see if that will make it on par with the WFT.

yea a 3 way would be cool i just did 300 rounds of 223 and had to touch the cases 900 times during trimming; trim, outsid debur, inside debur

and i sorted out 310 cases that didn't need to have any primer pocket fixing (mostly remington brass)

just thinking it through i touched each case picking out non crimped pockets then ,for sizing then the 3 trims then priming then seating

that was 7 times each case wow it was like i touched 2100 cases no wonder my hands smelled like brass for 2 days

oh well single stage reloading is cheap

                Adam,

You will never regret the $110 for the Giraud, just go for it.

So a while ago someone on here told me about the WCT, world's cheapest trimmer. I bought it and was a little impressed that it cost 23 bucks delivered to my mailbox. I didn't like that I still had to deburr and de-chamfer. I used my lee quick trim on another drill to touch each case 2 times. I noticed that on my WFT that it cut so well that it didn't need the extra steps. It has 4 flutes instead of 2. So I scoured the internet for a cheap 3/8 bit made of carbide, both WCT and WFT come with what is called HSS. I have no way of telling if they are but boy do they cut way better than the 2 flutes.

I have only prepped 2 pcs of brass with it. WFT also comes with 2 set screws for the cage to bit to hold tight. WCT only has one. The "carbide" bits don't have the flat spot which may or may not hold if you use a lot of force. If it becomes a problem I might grind a flat spot in there.

I ordered the triway trimmers from giraud. $105 a piece. The conversion kits for the full potato giraud trimmer are like $90 so I figured $105 is worth it for me considering there should be a lot less fiddling with adjustments. Been six weeks since I ordered and I’m still waiting for them to ship btw.
Lord, make my hand fast and accurate.
Let my aim be true and my hand faster
than those who would seek to destroy me.
Grant me victory over my foes and those who wish to do harm to me and mine.
Let not my last thought be 'If I only had my gun."
And Lord, if today is truly the day you call me home, let me die in an empty pile of brass.
