Finding primers online

Over the last week, I've been able to get some SRP & SPP from Midway.

Price, with shipping, hazmat & tax is right at $ 92 for 1K of the SPP today. Way better than the Marketplace here but with the limitations, not exactly great.

Anyone else having luck ?

My last online purchase was Midway for Fiochi 616 209 primer last year before Summer. They were only charging 10 for hazmat and 16 for the K so I got it. I'm 250 left on my W209. Tested the 616 and it's about the same but larger diameter so I'll be using on my older hulls. Hope Sportsmans will have some soon...

Has anyone seen any Remington primers coming up for sale?

I'd be really interested to know if they are getting things turned around and back into production.....especially at a level that would support selling components rather than just ammo...

Winchester and Federal are almost non existent.

"Running" and "running at capacity" could be wildly different.

Specifically, I wonder if current primer production is above what their ammo production can use? That will tell us if we will start seeing Remington primers coming up for sale again.

In general, getting Remington ammo and primer production up to speed should help alleviate current shortages I'm hoping.

Vista Outdoors owns CCI and Federal along with Remington now. One would hope there is some knowledge transfer happening to get Remington cranking out components and ammo.....

There's nothing wrong with the production lines. It's all about demand. IN 2020 there were 9 million new gun owners. IN January of this year there were 4.3 million DROS's---2 million were new owners. Thats 11 million new owners who all want 1000 rounds of ammo----that's 11 billion rounds!! 11 Billion. Add that to the existing owner needs, the competitive shooters, the people who just want to be a little stocked up, the preppers and then the hoarders. This problem isn't going to sort itself out for years.

Add that to the existing owner needs, the competitive shooters, the people who just want to be a little stocked up, the preppers and then the hoarders. This problem isn't going to sort itself out for years.

You have personal insight into their production machinery capability and confirmation that the old Remington company didn't defer maintenance and run the whole process into the ground in the years running up to bankruptcy? The primer and ammo plants didn't experience any brain/experience drain when Remington entered bankruptcy?

They didn't lose any key personnel, all of the old labor returned, they are fully staffed, and all machinery is running tip top right out of the gate?

During the height of the Iraq/Afghanistan war we were only using 75 million rounds a year. If not another round of ammo was sold after today in the US it'd still take 2 years for the manufacturers running 24/7 to fill their back orders. This is a long game---buy when you can in realistic qty's cause this is going to take a while to sort out.
