    45ACP Reloads some problems

Went to the range yesterday to shoot some 45ACP Reloads. My Citadel 1911 has always been flawless over the approx. 1200-1400 factory rounds I have sent. Never a problem. Yesterday I went with 185 gn RN Plated, longshot 7.4 gn and 1.223 OAL. In the course of shooting about 40 rounds, I had 3 failure to eject completely and had to manually clear the jam. Any clue as to what could be causing the problem.
The empty casings all look much dirtier than the factory loads. Not sure if that matters. Any clues???
    Thanks

I've never used Longshot, but some say it is far too slow for a low-pressure round like .45 acp and best for high-pressure and magnum pistol calibers.

That, and a bunch of soot on the case. I don't think you're getting what you need to cycle the slide properly. Find a stouter load, or a weaker spring.

7.2g listed as starting load for jhp.

Upping the charge will up the pressure, which shot reduce the soot.

Upping the charge will up the velocity (and hence energy) and improve cycling.

For target rounds I like about the slowest which gives me 100% cycling. So work up from your 7.2 if Longshot is what you have.
