I have a 45 auto rim reloading die set, we'll they work for reloading 45acp? I've tried to deprime a couple and the shell gets stuck in the die. Wondering if I just got another shell holder if the dies will work with reloading. Thank you

45 auto rim load 45acp?

Yes you will need the correct shell holders for both sizing and priming for the 45ACP. I've reloaded both types of cases with the same sizing, flaring and seating dies just swapped shell holders. -
^^^SPOT ON^^^
The difference between the AUTO RIM and the ACP. Is the rim. An AUTO RIM shell holder will shove the case UP into the sizer. But won't pull it back out.

Check seating / crimp die
I have RCBS dies in both .45 acp and auto rim. Both are a 3-die sets. The deprime / resizing dies and the belling dies are the same for both. I'm not sure about the seating / crimp die. The auto rim may be a roll crimp. I'm sure the acp is a taper crimp. I purchased a Redding profile crimp die and the acp rounds would not fully chamber in a 1911 with a profile crimp. The taper, profile, and auto rim crimp dies (if it is a roll crimp) work fine in .45 revolvers. I noticed a velocity drop with identical loads with the profile crimp versus a taper crimp. Of course the shell holder is different for the two different cartridges.Comment
