    Reloading Data for RIO Hulls

I am having a hard time finding 7/8 oz 12 ga bird shot loads for powders I have for RIO 2 3/4 shells with RIO Primers

Can I use the load data for 1 0z and how will this affect pressures, etc.?

I found load data for E3 powder but I don't have the WAD (EML) that it calls for. Does substituting WADS drastically affect pressure, etc. I know it will effect crimp etc... but I should be able to adjust for that.

    Powders I have

    American Select
    E3
    Winchester WST
Longshot (I know this one won't work)

Rio hulls and primers are Cheddite hulls and primers which are mild primers. Maybe look for loads for Cheddite hulls. It depends on how similar the wad you have are to the EML. I'm assuming it's also a wad design for straight wall hulls. They would operate similar at that pressure range. Only you can make the determination.

I have a couple bp manuals at home. But you can order the digital manuals from bp on their website. That should have the data for the hulls they sell
Man, this place has gone bonkers.

I have the BP Rio manual but they only use their wads in these loads. And the load data for the powder I have had wads that they are out of stock on.

So it goes back to my original question of is it safe to either substitute WADS and or use load data for 1 oz loads and just load 7/8 oz shot

Stick to published loads, unless you like shotgun blowing up in your face!

Were you ever able to find any 3 cent hulls?

Ok maybe I was dreaming. I have decided I would pay up to $.10

Just crazy what stuff is going for.

For the record I would say stick with published loads....

But theoretically I would use it and try them out. Make 5 or 10 and test them a bit making sure that they are clean, no unburned powders and that each one patterns ok. It's usually when loading to max pressures and going up in shot weight that you get problems. Underweight causes less pressure and unburned powder but 1/8oz isn't that much difference. In my opinion only. Only been reloading 12g for 1 year. And depending on what kind of gun, new/old, pump/semi/doubles. Semi guns may not cycle due to low recoil.

Thanks I am going to try loading 7/8 using 1 oz load data. I talked to the guy at local reloading store and he agrees with that you said. It will result in lower pressure etc. I will use spacer if needed to get good crimp. And load in the middle of the range. So lower pressure should still be in acceptable range
