    44mag mold help

Looking to start casting & trying to find a good mold for my marlin 44. She runs well with RNFP's as well as SWC. I want to find a flat based wide meplat boolit thats stable in the slooooow 1/38 twist 1894. Courently am running Laser cast which are sized at .431 and she does pretty well, but heard the Marlins really like .432. Any suggestions would be much appreciated

google "cast boolits" using that spelling and look for the forums, find the levergun forum and read for a while.

Just ask the question, or try the search function. There's been a number of threads on which big meplat flat noses will feed in what levergun. The RanchDog molds are real popular with the Marlin shooters, but I think Ranch Dog is getting out of the mold making biz. Search "Ranch Dog Molds". I'm shooting a Ballisticast 265 grain WFN mold, but I'm using it in a DW 744. The Lee 310 grain RNFP is a real good boolit, but I can't tell you if it'll feed in your lever action. Don't be shy, ask at Cast Boolits and you will find out. If you know what the parameters are, you could also go to the MountainMolds web site and play with his boolit design software till you have what you want. However, you will get what you spec, whether it'll work or not: garbage in= garbage out
