Nicely done, thanks for posting.

Question for you, now that you have the 650 and have used it a while, if you had to do it over would you still get the 650?

I have a rock chucker and related accessories and loaded my own in the past but still bought most of my ammo up until recently. With all that's going on, I'm thinking about getting into the 21st century and buying a progressive. I would use it for most rifle and pistol cal's that I own.

The 650 is the single most important item I have purchased during my time in this hobby. I shoot almost every weekend so ammo price and accessibility played a big part in my decision to go progressive.
I would do it all over again in a minute. I think the intimidation factor prevented me from getting one earlier, and that is mainly the reason for these videos, to show others how easy the 650 can be to use and the ability to be self reliant which is the best part IMO.

Two!?!? That's a lot of money!

Most serious reloaders that have 1 will have 2 eventually.
I'm still fighting buying the 2nd one, mostly because 90% of my loading is for small primers.
I just don't load enough large primer rounds to bother quite yet.

I followed you a little and got a 1050 to complement my 650. The 650 is still a winner due to easier/faster/cheaper caliber changes, but the 1050 just rocks. Being that the shellplate does not move up and down and the toolhead is what moves, I find on loads that have more powder in the case I end up with less spillage. I think everyone with a 650 or 550 will want to go this route eventually, and I want another 1050 now to setup for .223 exclusively and I'm considering a SL900 for shotshell. I have the fever!

Am thinking of getting the 550 Dillon. I have never reloaded but have read some books and understand the process. Would you recommend the 650 over the 550? On Brian Enos site he recommend the 550 for 1st timers. I will be loading pistol and rifle, 9mm, .40SW, 223 and 6.8 SPC. Is it that much more difficult to change the rounds from one to the other on a 650? Which is more cost effective for that many types of ammo ? I am mainly trying to do bulk ammo for target to hold costs down. Thanks in advance.

the main benefits of the 650 over the 550 are the auto indexing and powder check which are huge improvements IMO. Also the 650 will be faster for bulk reloading.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.. Drink the blue koolaid. I was happy with my Lee loadmaster, until I did some case trimming with grammaton's XL650 with the 1200B trimming motor. Then I saw a 650 with case feed and a bunch of dies and what not on craigslist. Needless to say I just sold my loadmaster. The 650 bolted right onto my bench mount. Oh, it was an early one and had some missing/broken parts. The primer catch cup/slide was broken and the cup was missing. Dillon sent out a new platform with all the updated parts. Also my primer early warning buzzer had a cracked case so they sent a new one of those. The videos were a bit slow, you can really crank out some ammo on these. Cranked out a hundred rounds of .40 the other day for a range trip. From the time I loaded the cases into the feeder to the time they were boxed in the dillon ammo boxes was about 8 minutes. FWIW when I was on the phone with dillon, I inquired about ammo boxes, they're like 11 bucks for 10 boxes. Great deal IMHO. The press absolutely rocks. Damn you guys and your blue koolaid. My CZ 75 SP01 in .40 is going to have to wait a couple more months. I've actually thought about getting the case trimmer and sizing/decapping/tumbling brass for guys to pay for it. Trimming was the worse part of the operation for .223.

That's real neat, thanks for sharing. I'm just getting into reloading now and part six (when you start cranking out the rounds) brought a smile to my face, just thinking about how many trips to Walmart I could save.

I guess I'll be starting out with a single stage and moving up later though, so maybe not as fast. I could definitely see myself in the garage with some music on spending some downtime loading up rounds for the weekend though. Cool vid!

I picked up a dillon 550 for $150 two weeks ago, 1k small pistol primers yesterday. I have brass and no bullets at this time. I'll keep looking for more components but in the meantime is there anybody here that lives in the east bay that could school me in person. Kyle 510 220 3828

And Mario, I also started w/ a single stage. If you can get one cheap/used go for it, if you have limited funds save up for a 650. It is really tough for me to use my single stage now after being spoiled by my progressive.
