Newbie question on Dies.

This is all 7.62x51 from different makers. Note that the MEN and Aguila don't look like they are crimped but maybe it's just light enough for GOV work. Maybe the + means that it's actually to NATO spec. I did not swage any of these and the primers pretty much went in ok. I MUST swage 556 as they won't go in smoothly, they jump and I have popped 2 before I got the swager. These were all bought brand new and shot by me.

There are two styles of crimping, it turns out. One style uses three crimp points like the one on the left in your picture. The newer style uses a round crimp. What it does is smoosh the edge of the primer pocket brass just a hair over the edge of the inserted primer. This holds the primer in very well, too. So, all four are crimped and will need the crimp swaged or trimmed away.

I use RCBS's decrimping die to handle my decrimping jobs. Works well enough.
