300 AAC Load w/ 185gr Berger

Hey guys, hoping you guys can help me jump start a load for 300 AAC.

I have a lot of 185gr Berger Classic Hunter bullets I got from a family member, I'd like to use these. I use/have CFE BLK powder as well. Hoping to work up a load with this but cant find anything.

Wanted to pose the question here before I started to search for 180 or 190gr data and adjust:

Base to Ogive

Nose Length
0.692

Bearing Surface
0.38

Boat Tail Length
0.242

I am loading some 147 gr fmj for plinking for my .300 aac pistol. Likely use h110

I am loading some 147 gr fmj for plinking for my .300 aac pistol. Likely use h110

I'm hearing CFE is good so I picked up several lbs but I don't wanna use my Scar/MK14 sierra bullets to also load my 300 BLK.......I wanna use those Berger bullet because I got em.

Maybe I'll post them for sale on here and just see if anyone bites before I work a load.

where did you pull your load data from? Like the 185gr bullets I have, can't seem to find data on this particular weight in the major books/sites, maybe its me not looking correctly.

Did you just pull data for 150gr weight based on H110 and use this or did you find data for 140gr weight& adjust down the amount of H110 by .5grs or 1 full gr, something along that line?

I shoot mine out of a single shot Encore.


I would try this for a starting load...



And work up to this for super sonic rounds...

good info.....better to be safe, I was gonna start at 190gr loads but I'll start off with something at least to 200gr and then work down if needed.......im just smashing steel around 50 - 70 yrds.

dang..............no luck.

i think CFE is pretty new, maybe not a lot of pet loads out there especially with the 185gr.

I think I'm just gonna start with some CFE data for a 200gr projectile then adjust if need be.

Be careful about jacketed bullets that close. They can send shrapnel back at you. I use cast and powder coated bullets in my 300 BO mostly.

yah definitely, I dont have any rigid mounted targets, they're all angled slightly down and hanging from chain from stands I welded up........eats up my .308 brass from my scar 17 without a scratch and the 45-70 300gr SP hollow points actually pit the steel ever so slightly, crazy. dont mess with 45-70. ha!

I don't cast anything but maybe I'll get into that in the future. how do you powder coat?

is the powder coating uniform in coverage? is the feel of the bullet rough or smooth and is there any pitting in the coating which would cause accuracy issues to any major degree?

You also need to worry about clogging your gas port.
