I use Lee 9mm dies in both my 550 and 750 without any problems. The only thing is they're short, so you'll have to screw them in all the way.

Dies are standard 7/8"x14 thread and are pretty much universal. Dillon dies are sometimes tappered so that casea enter more smoothly from multiple stations on a progressive. I use mostly dillon but also rcbs and Redding and might have a lee mixed in somewhere on one of the toolheads.

Other brand dies should fit unless it's a Square Deal. They have proprietary Dillon dies for that machine only.

Use Dillon locking nuts, and you'll be fine.

Of course they're compatible. The threading is standardized across all the companies, fortunately. Lee dies are good stuff, too.

That’s awesome thank you for the responses and the advice ... I’m posting a picture of the Dillion just to make sure it’s not the proprietary square version

My neighbor is new to reloading. His wife bought him a 550, and his friend set it up for him. He tells me his friend is an "expert" reloader, and has told him only Dillon dies will work in his press. Me telling him that he can use anyone's dies falls on deaf ears, so he sits and waits month after month for his backordered Dillon 9mm dies to arrive while I merrily chunk out hundreds of rounds of 9mm at will.

Well, that falls in the category of, "you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink." Let your friend wait, then. His "friend" is clearly a brand snob, and I've seen that on several forums. You told him right, but it's up to him to listen or not; you did your part.

Keep churning out those rounds, man! You're doing well.
