Depends on the powder. Try finding 4350 for a reasonable price.

It may be that there are more powders available since noobs can't buy primers to reload.

A cheaper powder will be $145/8lb (CFE Pistol), or $20/1lb. Cabelas and Sportsmans is a bit expensive at ~$30/lb for same stuff. For now, people are not hording those powders off the shelf.

do you like your steak rare?

or varget, but still it's less rarer than primers.

                    Powder is like medium rare.

                    Bullets are well done.

                    Brass is beef jerky

Primers are on a bloody plate.

SPP are so rare, you have to watch that they don't eat your salad.

I stacked my power deep while I could. There won't be a shortage here.

Its a hoarding issue. Its not that people are making so much ammo that they need powder to fill empty cases... its that people with 10k primers feel like they now need 50k primers, and they're all bulk ordering everything they can find until theres nothing left. Its just like the toilet paper hoarding earlier in the year.

We did the same thing with powder a few years back, and it was impossible to find anything that shot 9mm or 223, but primers were still pretty easy to find everywhere.

I loaded out my last brick of rifle primers, and I'm not buying anything until things are normal! 1000+ rifle rounds should last me until then.

It's only hoarding when you don't have any

50K primers, while could be illegal to store is not that unreasonable considering we may have president Harris for 7.999 years

10k LPP, 10k SPP, 10K SRP, 10K LRP and 10K various match and magnum primers =50k

At just 100 rounds a week, that's 5K /year. Most years I shoot a lot of 1911 but last year it was a lot of FS96, this year it's a lot of .380 and even some 9mm other years it's a lot of .308 or .223 But if you are thinking of an 8 year supply, 50K is fairly poultry.

I guess perspective is everything. Id call an 8 year supply the definition of hoarding! Like someone pointed out, the ranges are kinda empty right now, and its a really nice time to shoot in uncrowded spaces! People are buying, but they're not shooting.

I'll be buying $25 bricks of primers by April again.

I just ordered 16 pounds of my choice of pistol powders from Powder Valley this morning, and watched the stock dwindle just about by the minute, and they seem to get new stock pretty regularly. However my local Scheels was out of pretty much all powders, though I did pick up 500 each of 9mm and 45 bullets. I'm prepared enough that I don't have to worry about paying an exorbitant markup to scalpers, and I'll just keep buying a little here and there at normal prices as the stock slowly comes back.
