Primers at gun show in Charleston: Expensive though

I figured I check out the local gun show. Got there about 3 hrs. after they opened and still had to wait in a long line to get in.

Much to my suprise one of the vendors had cases of small pistol primers and small rifle primers.

I hope I did not get ripped off to badly. I paid $175 for a case of small pistol primers, obviously no hazmet fees. Thats very close to double what I paid last time I bought them in the 90's. Did not buy any of the small rifle because I need the small rifle magnum primers.

    Edited:
I do have primers on order at Grafs but don't know for sure when I'll get them. I recall the price was definately less than what I paid at the gun show but then I will have to pay the hazmat fee.

$35 per 1000 is a good price, some online place are getting $44 per 1000 plus hazmat...

The last time I paid for primers, it was $28.50 for Federal Small pistol, and Winchesters were $25/k. So either they are inflating it a bit for their own profit, or the manufacturers have raised prices. I paid $28.50 last October. To jump that high in only 6 months seems a little extreme. Still cheaper than some places though and you have them in hand.

I think you did good in today's market... I personally will not be buying any primers until the price falls below $30/K.

I went in my reloading room and picked up one of my primer boxes and saw the price of $1.41/100

I don't think $30/k for primers are all that unreasonable. Considering that you can still buy them for around $25 if you are willing to get on a wait list online!

Waiting list.....more like a Dream List.

                  I paid $35 per K and I had no wait........I don't do waiting games.

Not if you already have 10's of thousands of primers in various type save up... I have no problem with being on the wait list for a year or 2 to restock my depleted supply!

However, if you are in need of primers now, pay however much you deem acceptable. This is the beauty of a free market!
