    30-30 round 3

OK---up in the snow today to ty again
3 rounds of winchester 150 grain at 35 yards. 3 round two holes 1 1/2 spread 1 inch off center while holding at 12 oclock. reloads---5 rounds 165 gr FTX with 32 grns of IMR. pattern was 50 cent piece right at 6 oclock while holding at 12 oclock. 5 rounds with 30 grains of IMR 4895 all on the 6 inch splatter but all over again holding at 12 oclock. Rear sight set as low as it'll go. So-----get a shorter front sight?

Rear sight needs to go up, not down, to raise elevation.
If rear sight is maxed out at highest and still not enough, only then should you go down on the front sight height.

With your results, I feel like you need more info and a second, reliable, shooter. Did you take photos?

I would run 20 rounds of the same ammo. 2 5 shot groups each. Use a rest/sandbags/whatever to eliminate other variables if you can. Take photos of the target(s) and post 'em up.

With the results you describe above...

      1. which direction what the first group off center?

      2. How big is your bullseye? Is the distance between 12 and 6 an inch or 6 inches or something else?

      3. Again, for the group all over, I'd be curious to see a photo and a second shooter with the same ammo.

Rear sight goes up to bring your group up.

So - if I'm understanding your post, you have decent groups but now need to move your sights?

Bigbossman----you are correct. I could swear if you move the rear sight down your POI should move up???? Someone said I was incorrect with that thinking

When you move the rear sight down, the the front post would then appear too high in your sight picture. To bring it back into alignment with the rear sight, you'd need to rock the muzzle downward, thus lowering your point of impact.

Could you please call my wife and repeat that to her?

Always remember: Rear same, front opposite that you want POI to move. Rear sight down, POI down, and vice-versa. The reverse is true for the front sight - shorter front sight, POI goes up. Taller front sight, POI goes down.
