Primer Conspiracy - Canada fully stocked!

Ok WTF is going on here. I have been searching for primers for many months now and can never find primers in the USA.

BUT I can always find them in Canada!

For example, Gold Medal Match large rifle primer M210s are fully stocked and this one store has 878 in stocked!

I'm not a fan of conspiracy theories so I voted NO.

Some Canadians do own long guns and shotguns, but it's exceedingly difficult to obtain handguns (don't even think about trying to bring one in or through Canada from the US) and long guns of the type that can easily eat hundreds of rounds in a practice session. It's also my impression that Canadians aren't as concerned as Americans are about some sort of apocalyptic event that would require keeping a large ammunition stockpile. Consequently there probably hasn't been the same panic buying of guns, ammunition and components in Canada that we've seen here. Maybe the zombies don't like cold weather.

      No.
Primers were plentiful on shelves in June, July and August but were not shipping (small primers). No need to. Walk-ins would sweep them up. I bought 1k a day during that time (~$23/k) and I thought I was late. I was actually surprised at how long it lasted. They started to dry up in Sept. When the smalls started to dry up, I bought a few large rifle and a few k of shotgun (for perimeter alarms).

I recall seeing a lot of people complaining about no primers, but they were clearing looking at sites that ship, like on ammoseek. They were still on shelves but stores stopped advertising because they set low limits.

      So my thoughts are:
      1. They dont have the demand
      2. If they do have the demand, its delayed.
      3. Even with their high demand, they can likely replenish quicker because its really less than here in the US.

Many have said that it is all going to contract ammo, and civilian ammo...

We get the leftovers, and with MILLIONS of rounds being made/bought-up, we are just in a dry spell.

Will you save money, AND buy in cases of 5k next time?
I always do, as I went though the last shortage too...

I notice that the Canadian link shows no SPP in stock and only three flavors of SRP. Yes, better supply than the US, but pricing appears elevated from (what I would think to be) normal.
Also, could you even order them from Canada? Doesn't seem likely, but would be interesting if we could.
Just a routine conspiracy of 'markets', eh.

About half of what should be in stock if you select the "show out of stock" button and compare.

By about a factor of 2 or so, which is better than a lot of places in the US. Less, if the prices listed are in Canadian dollars (as I would expect them to be.)

No idea on ordering from Canada.

There is a note right below the photo of a box of Federal Premium Gold Medal primers that says in all caps,

"WE DO NOT SHIP TO THE USA. NO EXCEPTIONS."

                  ROAD TRIP!!!

And I was talking legality more than whether or not that vendor does.

I've taken small amounts of ammunition through Canada probably two dozen times. There is a limit on how much you can bring into Canada. Never done anything with components and I'm not aware of any restrictions on bringing components into the US but you'll want to ask Customs and Border Protection.

Even if you could make the road trip for free, right now I don't think you'd get very far because the border is closed to tourists and the locals are not inclined to welcome visitors from the US at the moment.

Garbage. Ammo shortage is in Canada too

Hunters in northern Ontario may have a difficult time buying guns and ammunition this fall, as stock and shipments from the U.S. have hit a bit of a supply chain “pinch.”

U.S. demand for guns causing supply 'pinch' for northern Ontario hunters
Stock up before hunting season, outfitters say, as supply chains from the U.S. hitting hurdles

Worry about looming shortages — rather than fear of a breakdown in societal order — is likely what's driving demand for ammo during the COVID-19 pandemic, says one Edmonton retailer.

Firearms enthusiasts in Alberta are stocking up on guns and ammunition, partly out of fear that COVID-19 could lead to social breakdown, according to retailers.

Lebaneseblond, the second of your four links is from 2015. Must have been from the last 'panic'

Honestly I thought about visiting Canada next summer. Is there any legalities bring back primers across the border; driving? How much is too much?
Politicians should only be allowed one term in office, then one term in jail.

What I'd like to tell you us, check with the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) service to see what restrictions they impose, but the smart thing to do is to check with the Canada Border Services Agency, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and CBP. In all likelihood none of them will care, but you are far better off getting things sorted out ahead of time than getting waylaid at a border station or inviting suspicion from a store employee that leads to an uncomfortable conversation with Canada's law enforcement.

I've taken frozen game meat, trophies, processed antlers and fish in both directions with absolutely no problems, but it's because I did my homework ahead of time.

Of course by next summer you'll probably be able to find all the primers you want much closer to home.
