    Winchester SRP for AR15 loads

Any issues with Winchester small rifle primers for AR15s? I used to utilize CCI 41 primers but those are unobtanium these days.

I'm assuming Winchester uses Winchester primers in their .223 ammunition which can be fired from an AR without slam fire issues so it would seem that Winchester primers for reloading are equally safe, but I've managed not to blow a finger or thumb off in years of reloading by being cautious, thus the question.

Try this. Take a couple of cases that you've primed with Winchester primers. No powder, no bullet, just the primer. Load them up in your AR's magazine. Cycle the action, allowing the bolt to slam forward. Have a look at the ejected case to see what how deep the dent is, if there is one. That should give you a pretty good idea.
