    Trimmers

I've been using a lyman manual case trimmer and it's just a lot of work. Also, I think it may be time to replace the blade but a quick search or midway for "trimmer blade" yields nothing similar to what I'm looking for.

    I'm considering other trimmers.

I've used the RCBS power trimmer which I like a lot and I'm leaning towards.

I have some "trimzits" but I'm not real fond of them. they are very fast but they index from the shoulder which is gives me different lengths depending on which gun they were fired from if the shoulder is further back than I have bumped the rest.

I like the RCBS because the length is indexed from the base of the head. It's big noisy and expensive but I think it gives the most consistent results.

I think the only pistol I would trim would be .357sig and I think those split before they grow

Lyman does sell parts for their trimmers. Even have a "power adapter".

The cutter is sharpenable. The edge can be "carefully freshened" with a small arkansas stone. Or take it to a local machine tool sharpening service.

Gots'ta ask for personal curiosity. WTF is a "trimzit"? And why would one even want to trim a zit?

I converted my Forester trimmers to powered, simply by unscrewing the little pain in the thumb cranky handle. And chucking on a cordless drill.

IF, your Lyman unit's handle is held on by a machine screw. You can unscrew the handle and just use a longer screw as a chuckable adapter.

          Just kick'n options.

Anyone know if the universal trimer, and the accu trimmer have the same diameter trimmer shank? Could I put the power adaptor on my accu trimmer?

Have a lyman trimmer for 40+ years now. Just got a new blade fir ut last year. IIRC, cist was $13 or 14 bucks. Akso git the power adapter for it a dozen years ago. Best thing i ever did fir fhe lyman. Made a world of differencd to use a cordless drill instead of the manual crank.

Also have a lee case trimmer that uses a cordless drill too. Works well too but had to install a stronger spring and a larger ball bearing to get it to work reliably. Depending on how many cases i have to trim will determine which trimmer i will use.

I have the frankfort arsenel platinum trimmer and its pretty nice.
Does pretty much every caliber and also all the case prep.

ive used the lyman manual with the power drill adapter, the little crow and the frankfort. I loved the speed of the little crow it beats out the others in that but its not meant for bulk processing because your hand feels too much vibration. Ended up keeping the Frankfurt because its quick and also has multiple stations for deburring, chamfering. I also use the main cutter to clean up primer pockets to remove the military crimps.

Seriously look into the giraud tri way. It's awesome. Works great. Easy to set.

I have the RCBS with a hand crank and may spring for the power supply. I tried the Lee trimmer but was not at all satisfied with how inconsistent it was and how quickly the blades seem to fail.

Tri way uses threads to secure the body vs the trim it uses a set screw. I don't have any experience with the trim it. The threads seemed more robust/secure to me. So far it has been very accurate with brass all sized the same. I sized some 223 on my Dillon and saw a difference vs the rcbs press. Like anything consistency is key in reading.

I use the Lee Quick Trim with the drill adapter. Size/deprime/trim/prime at about 17 seconds per case in my Redding T-7. I've used it in my Hornady progressive for 223 and 308.

Too easy....I really like having it trim and deburr at the same time.

I have the electric powers RCBS unit and really like it.
Trimmed many 1000's of cases with it so far
