45 colt dies for 45 acp?

I have a set of lyman 45 colt dies. Crimp die is marked 45acp/colt.
Will the sizer work for acp? Or better to sell them?
    Premium set with powder die.

The crimp die will, and the expander die probably will, but the sizing die won't.

If it's a carbide die it might work

        Hmm.
Didn't want to test a brand new die.
        Sigh..

Seems 5050 on that. Wanted to hear if anyone here tried it. Sizing is off, .07 I think on the colt vs acp?

Hmm. Never even thought of doing that, as I have the specific dies for specific cartridge. How, exactly does that work? Not doubting, just don't know. Thanks.

Sometime around 1940-50 i don't really know when, 45 colt groove diameter was changed to .450 making it a lot easier for manufacturers to produce barrels for 45 acp and 45 colt. They now share the same groove diameter. They however did not change the saami cartridge(456 bullet) and chamber dimensions, which sucks because manufacturers such as Rossi and Ruger(in the past) built firearms in 45 colt with big chambers while remaining within saami tolerance. Ruger has fixed this issue by reaming their cylinders to .478. A 45 colt chamber can be as large as .484 at the mouth and .490 at the rear and still be within saami spec. Most 45 colt sizing dies are made for a .452 bullet, you cannot seat a 452 bullet in a .480 case, it will fall inside, no neck tension.

Cases were sized with a 45 colt carbide sizing die.

Well, I take the 45 colt shell holder out and put a 45 acp shell holder in.

Measure the inside diameter of the sizing die with calipers and report back the measurement.
