    Help With Ammunition Information

    Hello,

Sometime ago I was given a bunch of ammunition. I do not have any rifle that fires these calibers. However, I’m stumped on one of the cartridges. It has no markings. Can you folks help identify it?

Also, what can you tell me about the ammunition that has markings? It’s factory new ammunition, however, I’m curious to know when it was manufactured.

The first one is a 7.65 Mauser, mostly called 7.65 Argentine.
The SF head stamp is probably Argentine.
The 75-76 is the yr of manufacture.

The photo on the bottom looks like 7.62x54R, which is a Russian caliber AFAIK.

This link might be helpful. Apparently it' still in production and still in use.

7.62x54r Rifles are still being made and some still sold here in the USA and plenty of ammo still coming from the Russkies for them.

What do you feel a fair price is for 420 rounds?

Make sure you sell the ammo legally.

Of course. What do you think a good price would be?

Photo 1, leftmost cartridge, sorts an 81 manufacturing date, does it not?

Those 7.62x54R rounds with silver paint on the tip from a mil surplus 440 spam can have draw backs: non-reloadable cases, corrosive primers, steel core bullets. Because of those draw backs the spam cans used to sell for $50 a can few years ( i still have a couple unopened cans) Who knows value in todays market though. For a bolt action rifle so not a common self defense round.

How BADLY do you want to get rid of them? If you don't have anything that shoots 'em, try $.50 a rd., and see what bites you get.
